A second 2020 feline health grant available for sponsorship

Sep 18, 2020
white_cat_sitting_189919Last April, Winn announced the funding of 15 new feline health research projects for a total of $304,477, one of our largest grant reviews yet. Each year, Winn Feline Foundation receives proposals from veterinary researchers around the world who are interested in improving feline health. To date, Winn’s cumulative total in feline health research funding exceeds $7 million.

One of the four 2020 feline health grants available for sponsorship will evaluate a rapid "chair-side" diagnostic test for ringworm in cats.

W20-032  -
Development of a Rapid Diagnostic Test for Microsporum canis

Principal Investigator: Sue VandeWoude, Colorado State University. $14,062

Ringworm, a common fungal infection of cats and people, can take up to two weeks to diagnose with current methods. This study evaluates a rapid, chair-side test that allows immediate diagnosis and treatment. Development of this testing capability holds great promise for significant improvements in ringworm management for individual cats as well as shelter and multi-cat environments.

Sponsorship is easy! Simply pick one of the projects seeking sponsors ($250 minimum donation). Go to our website for more information on the project and to make your sponsorship donation online or download a donation form to mail to: 637 Wyckoff Ave., Suite 336, Wyckoff, NJ  07481.
