2021 Winn Grant Review

Winn Feline Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization that funds research into health issues affecting cats. This grant review is held annually in the spring, often funding between 10 to 20 research projects. Please note there are changes present in this 2021 Winn grant cycle:

  • The deadline for receipt of applications is Monday, December 14, 2020 by 11:59 pm ET and awards will be announced by mid-May, 2021.

  • The maximum grant amount is $30,000, and awards will be determined in March, 2021. Multi-year proposals totaling more than $30,000 will not be considered. However, continuation of studies in previous years will be considered and requests should follow the format outlined in the application guidelines.

  • Projects should have discrete and achievable goals within the $30,000 limit. They must demonstrate their relevance or benefit to improving feline health, particularly regarding domestic cats.

Topic of Interest: Feline Kidney Health and the Impact of Dietary Phosphorus and Calcium (CaP-K)

Winn Feline Foundation, in a special funding opportunity co-sponsored by Nestlé Purina Petcare and Mars Petcare is calling for proposals that address the effect that dietary phosphorus and calcium to phosphorus ratio have on renal health in cats.  Approximately $400,000 is available to fund proposals of sufficient scientific merit, relevance and potential to impact feline health.

  • The deadline for receipt of applications is Monday, September 21, 2020 (5pm EDT)
  • The maximum grant amount is $50,000 for 1 to 2-year projects, and awards will be announced by mid-December 2020.

2020 Miller Trust Call for Proposals

In 2002, the George Sydney and Phyllis Redman Miller Trust designated Winn Feline Foundation as one of its advisor organizations. Winn has subsequently been provided an unprecedented opportunity to make annual recommendations for grant awards to the San Francisco Foundation, trustees of the Miller Trust. The total grant funding varies each year.

The grant proposal status will be released by late November. Awards will be announced by December 2020. The next call for grant proposals will go out in April, 2021.

The terms of the Miller Trust Award dictate that only principal investigators at certain institutions may apply for funding:
